TikTok Launches Landscape Videos

TikTok has tested a new landscape mode with selective users from around the world. This new feature may help TikTok to compete with YouTube. This year, TikTok announced that the platform will support videos of up to 10 minutes long. Previously, TikTok only allowed videos that were 3 minutes or less. TikTok has been strategically moving into YouTube’s territory for some time now. They might be trying to diversify their market by engaging a more mature audience that may use the platform for educational content. TikTok remains more popular with the younger demographic, with over 4 billion downloads. But it has also come under intense criticism from government regulators. Only this week, US lawmakers proposed a ban on TikTok amidst security concerns. Taiwan banned it from public devices, India blocked it in 2020 amidst a military row, and other countries like Australia are contemplating a ban.
